Pivotal (then MVAH) identified that with the support of low-income housing tax credits and the Borough of Canonsburg there was a solution for both lack of access to affordable housing and decline of older buildings. The former First Street Elementary School building had sat vacant, and the Pivotal team saw an opportunity to rehabilitate that space and add additional square footage with an addition.
The senior community of the Borough of Canonsburg would be the most impacted by this new additional the plan was to offer 50 one and two-bedroom apartment homes. Each home designed for residents 62 and over. The spacious floor plans include modern amenities you would expect to find in a luxury home, at affordable rental rates: a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen with energy-efficient appliances, ceiling fans, central air conditioning, and an onsite laundry area! The common spaces provide comforts of contemporary living which include a community room with a kitchen/dining area and lounge area where residents can enjoy the companionship of friends and family; there is also a rooftop viewing deck to enjoy the outdoors of Canonsburg Senior Lofts. The building is smoke-free & environmentally friendly.
